LINKS to Organisations offering Help and Support for Burn Survivors

Burnsurvivor.org is a non-profit organization based in North Carolina. Their philosophy centres around the belief that in order to maximize the effectiveness of education, prevention and post burn programs, as well as many patient programs, you must have highly trained burn survivors as part of the burn team. Their goals are to create opportunities for burn survivors who are motivated, fearless, and willing to learn to become a part of the burn team.

The Burn Survivor Resource Center, based in USA, is dedicated to assisting injury patients who have been involved in an accident in obtaining affordable medical treatment for their injuries. They provide counselling to patients regarding the nationwide availability of reduced cost or free medical services from various organizations and referrals to those organizations. In cases that qualify, medical treatment may be partially or fully funded.

The Burn Survivors Association is an independent association for burn survivors, their families, and friends, which aims to form a community of burn survivors in the UK, with links to other international burn survivor associations. For burn survivors the association provides a central point, a gateway to existing sites of information, a link to existing local support groups, and personal non-professional support.

Burn Survivors Throughout The World, Inc. (BSTTW), an International Non Profit Organization, is currently working in Africa, Canada, Egypt, France, Ghana, Guatemala, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Slovenia, Spain, the UK, the United States and Viet Nam. BSTTW offers memberships, peer support, education, advocacy, medical referrals, religious healing weekend, and public awareness programs.

The Canadian Burn Foundation was founded in 1998. Working with others, their desire was to provide programs and support for burn victims across Canada. In partnership with firefighters, educators and burn units across Canada, the foundation continues to meet many of the current needs of burn survivors.

Children of Fire is the website of the sister charities Children of Fire International (registered in England and Wales) and Children of Fire (registered in South Africa). The charities aim to help young victims of burn injuries (whether by fire, chemicals or hot liquids) in Southern Africa and to help and educate the communities in which they live, providing both prevention and cure.

The mission of the Children's Burn Foundation, based in California, is to: provide financial resources to meet the physical, psychological, social and other special needs of severely burned children; serve as an advocate for children burned by abuse or neglect; educate children, families, care givers and emergency providers in burn prevention and treatment; fund regional, state and national programs to accomplish these objectives.

The Children’s Fire and Burn Trust is a UK-based International Charity. They develop and run fire safety, burn and scald prevention programmes within the local community and work closely with specialist burns units, fire and rescue services, childcare specialists and government. They are strongly involved with the long term rehabilitation of children suffering from burns injuries and continue to expand their programmes both internationally and nationally in this area.

Dans Fund for Burns, a registered burns charity, was set up in Feb 2003 to offer practical help in a wide range of circumstances to burns victims in the UK. To do this they work with the support groups, the nurses, surgeons, physio's & OTs at hospitals such as East Grinstead, Roehampton, Salisbury & Selly Oak. They are willing to give funding to a whole range of needs whether it be burns related treatments, re-training, support etc.
